Erin Sedgley

RYT-200 Certified

Erin has always enjoyed being active and helping others.   A native New Yorker (a proud Mets fan and Long Islander) Her earliest occupations were working with developmentally disabled children and adults as well as adults suffering from bipolar and schizophrenic disorders.   After becoming a mom to three children in three years – Erin fell in love with early morning spin workouts.  She tends to share her passion quite energetically and was encouraged to become certified to teach.  This one certification in 2004  followed by a move to North Carolina, led to 10 others. Erin was a director for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte for several years, both teaching and overseeing group exercise classes. Erin and her family moved to Haymarket, VA in 2014.

Prior to the move, Erin recognized that her own wellness journey was being neglected and slowly started to put more time and energy on caring for herself.  Part of this journey involved taking classes at Transform Power Yoga.  What started as simply exercise for her body, slowly became something greater.   Erin discovered that after spending time on her mat, the time off of her mat contributed to a happier and healthier way of life.  She loved the community and sense of family that the studio had. As her own health improved, she knew it was time to return to helping others.   Erin became an ACE certified Health Coach and Weight loss Specialist in 2018, and received her 200hr RYT certification in the summer of 2019.
Erin will say “Yoga is so much more than moving on your mat.  For most people, that is where it starts – but over time it simply becomes MORE.  Yoga can help you be more aware and present in your everyday life.  Yoga can remind you to be kinder to yourself and others.  Yoga can provide a sense of peace when dealing with a stressful time.  Yoga teaches you to be what you need to be for yourself.  Yoga is life changing!”
Erin loves to encourage and support both the experienced and brand new participant.  She is quick to remind you that there is no such thing as a perfect yoga pose.   The “perfect” is when you just do what your body can do and what your spirit, mind and body need.   When all three of those areas are cared for – that is your yoga!
When she isn’t teaching, you will find her on her mat in the studio – often next to her husband, who also practices regularly.  She has three teenagers and spends much of her time as a dance mom, soccer mom, wife and friend.
She would love the opportunity to share yoga with you.
