Transform Power


Transform Power Youth is a yoga and mindfulness program for children ages 3-13. Your child will learn the foundations and principles of yoga in a fun, playful and creative way. Each class is designed for your little one to build strength, confidence, connection and focus, and is led by our Kidding Around Yoga-certified children’s yoga instructor, Aniya Mirza.

Program Details:

• Classes are divided by age: Preschoolers (3-5 yrs), Elementary (6-9 yrs), and Preteens (10-13yrs)

• Classes are 45 minutes and taught in an unheated classroom

• Attire: Play clothes are best – if it works for the playground, it will work for yoga!

• Parents are welcome to wait in the lobby, but are not allowed in the practice room itself during class. It is our experience that parents in the classroom present a distraction for the students and prevent them from fully engaging in their yoga experience.

Class Descriptions:

Preschool Class (3-5 yrs)
You’re never too young for yoga! In our preschool class (for ages 3-5) your little one will begin to explore fundamental yoga poses through the imaginative role play of animals and nature’s elements.
We end class with a guided mediation, to help each child find their inner zen.
Elementary Class (6-9 yrs)
Building a stronger body and self-esteem is the main focus for our Elementary Yoga class for kids ages 6-9.
This class engages your child through a blend of active, yoga-based group games and independent relaxation practices, which help your child gain confidence in both group and independent settings and help your child experience the physical and emotional benefits of yoga.
At the end of class children get to de-stress through a guided meditation session led by Aniya to bring their yoga experience full-circle.
This class offers the flexibility for your child to progress at his/her own pace. Whether your child is brand new to yoga, or has taken classes before, this class will keep them immersed and challenged.


PreTeen Class (10-13 yrs)
The transition to adolescence can be a challenging, confusing, and overwhelming time for kids ages 10-13.
Our preteen yoga class offers an encouraging environment for your child to discover and develop their unique personality and sense of self outside of traditional academic and athletic settings.
In this class, your preteen will master and build upon the foundational sun salutation, eventually learning how to harness the Vinyasa style of yoga to strengthen their body, calm their mind, and find their own creative flow.
Every class ends with a guided-meditation to help your preteen experience deep relaxation, inner peace and mindfulness.


About the Instructor, Aniya Mirza

Aniya has been practicing yoga for eight years now, and has been a member of Transform Power Yoga for almost two.
She completed her 200 hour Hatha and Vinyasa Flow training at Latitude Yoga Company in December 2015, and became a certified Kids Yoga instructor in January 2016 through Kidding Around Yoga.

She has worked with children for many years through her other career, and is passionate about introducing kids to a yoga practice that inspires them to be creative, active, and mindful. She says teaching yoga to children is extremely rewarding to her, as she gets to watch her students transform by building a stronger body through poses and learning to calms their minds with meditation and breathing techniques.

She lives in Nokesville with her son, and enjoys cooking, hiking and playing archery when she’s not on her yoga mat.
